Impacts of identity based discrimination & stigma (including Neurodivergence, Gender Diversity & Orientation, Race & Ethnicity) -
Person-Centered: a collaborative approach that allows clients to take the lead in the direction that sessions and therapeutic work move. It relies on 3 conditions: unconditional positive regard, empathetic understanding, and congruence or genuineness.
Systems Therapy: the understanding that we are intrinsically interconnected with other people, other elements of nature, and other forces in our lives and environments. What impacts one, impacts all.
Psycho-Educational Therapy: provides clients, caregivers, and loved ones with the knowledge about various elements of mental, emotional, and relational health and treatment.
Family Therapy: supports family members in building stronger relationships, bettering communication, and engaging in conflicts.
Narrative Therapy: supports clients in becoming the author of their own life stories. These can often be related to stories about ourselves, others, relationships, work, and the world.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): the main goals of DBT are to support people in living in the moment (mindfulness), developing healthy ways to cope with stress (distress tolerance), regulating their emotions (emotional regulation), and improving their relationships with others (interpersonal effectiveness).
Motivational Interviewing (MI): supports clients in moving from a place of uncertainty or ambivalence toward motivation and commitment to change.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): supports clients in accepting hardships that they cannot change and take steps toward feeling more in control of their lives.
